About Hostel CANTO

Hostel CANTO is a welcoming place for travelers who value comfort, community, and a sense of history. Set in a landmark building - cultural monument dating back to 1911, CANTO offers a unique stay where the past and present come together naturally.

The building was originally financed by the Baklov brothers—Dimitar, Hristo, and Petar—visionary entrepreneurs who helped shape Bulgaria’s commercial life in the early 20th century. Designed by engineer Gero Gerov, the impressive two-story structure first served as a hub of trade and finance, with shops on the ground floor and the Credit and Commercial Popular Bank operating above. For decades, the building remained a vibrant center of commerce, later becoming home to well-known department stores such as Horemag and the iconic “1001 Goods”, a name still remembered by locals today.

Reimagined as Hostel CANTO, this historic space continues its tradition of bringing people together. Thoughtfully designed rooms, shared areas, and a relaxed atmosphere invite guests to connect, unwind, and explore the city at their own pace. Whether you’re passing through or staying awhile, CANTO is more than a place to sleep—it’s a living part of the city’s story.
